Preparation is key
One Can adheres to almost any interior and exterior substrate, including uPVC, metal and wood. For painting wooden furniture, make sure that the surface is completely dry. Wipe any knots down with methylated spirit to remove excess resin and spot-prime heavy or active knots with aluminum wood primer. Ensure never to paint damp wood, as this can cause blistering, flaking and early coating failure.
To guarantee long term performance for plastic or metal furniture, first degrease with Bradite Industrial Degreaser TD39 or methylated spirit. Then lightly abrade the surface before applying the first coat. Treat any light surface rust with Bradite Rust Converter RC46 and remove heavy rust back to a clean metallic finish.
Sanding
Prepare previously coated surfaces by manual or mechanical sanding. This will remove poorly adhered material and provide a sound substrate for painting. Additionally, repair any surface imperfections like cracks and pits with a suitable filler to ensure a level surface. Completing these steps will ensure you achieve a smooth, even coverage of the first coat.
Begin painting
One Can is a low-odour, easy-to-apply finish that is fully water based. It is touch dry in just 30 minutes when applied by spray, roller or brush, meaning a second coat can be applied within an hour. These quick-drying properties will help you complete your project efficiently, without compromising on the quality of finish.
One Can’s superior formulation also blocks and locks rust stains. It can help to conceal troublesome knots and resinous bleeds on hard woods and provide a protective, anti-corrosive coating for exterior metals.
